About us:
The State Medical Association of Brandenburg (Ärztekammer Brandenburg) is a public
corporation responsible for medical self management in the federal state of Brandenburg. Its
work is based on the "Chamber Law for Health Care professions" (Kammergesetz für die
Heilberufe).
Structure:
Every physician within the federal state of Brandenburg is member of the State Medical
Association.
At present the State Medical Association has a total number of 10.894 members, out of which
3.436 work in outpatient and 4.127 in clinical care.
The State Medical Association of Brandenburg has its seat in Cottbus.
The Association assembly (Kammerversammlung) is the parliament of the State Medical
Association.
The executive committee (Vorstand), consisting of eight physicians chaired by the
president, Dr.
med. Udo Wolter and the management board (Geschäftsführung) are responsible for the overall
administrational work.
Expert groups (Sachgebiete) deal with special questions.
Further working groups (Ausschüsse) and commissions (Kommissionen) care for different aspects within the medical profession.
Our
tasks:
- Promoting health prophylaxis of the population and cooperating with other health care
professions
- Representing the professional interests of physicians as well as consulting politics and
administration
- Supervising fulfilment of physicians' professional duties
- Promoting good relations among physicians
- Taking care that the professional code of conduct is maintained and respected
- Promoting medical education and continuous education
- Regulating medical continuous education
- Promoting medical continuous education through information and consultation
- Developing and carrying out means for securing quality in medical treatment
- Organising the education of medical assistants
The official language of the State Medical Association of Brandenburg is German.
